It's easy to make a toque from an old sweater. Here's how.

Lay the pattern piece on the fabric or sweater. Remember to place it on the fold. Pin it down. |
![]() |
Hang the piece over the end if you want to use the existing hem. Let it hang over about 6cm, more or less depending on how deep you want the toque to fit. |

Sew all peaks together like this. |
![]() |
Sew .5 cm from the raw edge. Backstitch at both ends. |
![]() |
.5 cm is from the edge of the presser foot to the needle when on stitch setting #2. Keep the raw edge of the fabric lined up with the edge of the presser foot. |

Put some pressure on the seam to make sure it's strong. |
![]() |
Repeat for all 4 peaks. |
![]() |
Fold in half, right sides together, lining up raw edges. |
![]() |
Pin and stitch .5 cm from the raw edge. |
![]() |
Try it on to see if it fits well. |
If you'd like it tighter, take it in like this. |
Last step: If you don’t have a finished bottom edge, hem it now.
Because fleece doesn’t fray, you only need to fold it once for a hem.
